"Evil Empowered" is a song included on the eleventh album Ritual, released in 2018. This is the first single revealed from Ritual. Appropriating the title, it is described a hellish song featuring double bass. It is about dictators getting more more powerful. This song can also be called "Evil in Place of Power" as it sings this phrase in choruses rather than 'evil empowered' as title should suggest. Another alternate title is "Rise Above" as it features twelve lyrical lines reading 'rise above, rise above', which is inspired by "Rise Above", a song by Black Flag.
Lyrics
Bow down
To the greatest corrupter
The second coming
Of the antichrist unearthed
Live with a curse
Kill in the name of god
The devil’s won
Knife in the back
We ignored the truth
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Can you see through the veil that covers you?
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Evil in place of power
Awoke by a thief
In the night of retribution
Pandemic welcoming
Of your final solution
We are cursed
An idol to be your god
The devil’s won
Knife in the back
We ignored the truth
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Can you see through the veil that covers you?
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Evil in place of power
Knife in the back
We ignored the truth
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Can you see through the veil that covers you?
Rise above, rise above
Rise above, rise above
Evil in place of...
Power, power, power
Evil in place of power
