"Karmageddon" is the closing track of the self-titled debut album Soulfly, released in 1998. A closing track, only two Soulfly members perform in this song, excluding Max Cavalera whose only credit of this song goes to music writing, on top with two session performers. The world music track comprises of two parts separated by silence. The first and the main part, "Karmageddon", is an instrumental tune with heavy, repetitive drumming by Roy Mayorga and guitar tangs by Jackson Bandeira. The second part, "Sultão das Matas", Portuguese for "Sultan of Forests", begins at around 3:55 following 24 seconds of silence. It solely features tribal drumming and vocals by Brazilian native Angola Kassanje. She sings in Portuguese about being the sultan of her village surrounded by forests.
Looking at composition of the title, Karmageddon is the portmanteau of 'karma' and 'armageddon.' The title only differs on first letter from another Soulfly song "Warmageddon", played on the sixth album Conquer.
